It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Maria Regina School. At Maria Regina School we use Eureka Math (Engage New York Modules) in Grades K-5.
Eureka Math is a top-rated and widely-used math curriculum which develops a student's understanding of key math concepts and procedures (how math works) while developing computational skills so students can solve problems. (We call them math stories.) Resources for students and parents are available for free on the Great Minds website.
Parents- I highly recommend the Eureka Parents Tip Sheets for the topics we study as a guide to understand what your child is learning. In addition the daily Homework Helpers provided with each lesson in the HW Succeed book is another resource available.
This year we will use Zearn Math (zearn.org). This is another free digital resource that your child can use at home to review and practice the math concepts and procedures.
If I can be of any assitance, please feel free to contact me. Mrs. Archbold
Math AIS is provided daily in Math classes in Grades Kindergarten through Grade 5. During this time Mrs. Archbold provides additional core instruction in small groups. This time provides students increased opportunities to practice and learn grade level content and skills. The additional instructional service in the regular classroom also allows us to monitor every student's progress thoughout the year and ensure every child is provided a rich math experience.
ZEARN MATH AT HOME
Zearn is an additional resource we have introduced fo students to learn Math. This digital curriculum is compatible with our Eureka series. During the time we are distance learning this is a great resource for your child.
Each day students (Grades 1-5) should complete a Zearn Lesson each day. The lessons are set up just like our Math classes in school where we have fluency routines, a Math Lesson or "math chat" and practice problems. The "Tower of Power" allows students to show mastery of the concept taught. The system is real-time so teachers can monitor student's progress and identify any students who struggles with a lesson. Please contact me if you have any problems or you need help with the problem set. Good luck Zearners!
