Maria Regina's elementary program offers a quality education for students from first through fifth grade. Our curriculum meets all of the New York State Department of Education and Diocese of Rockville Centre's educational requirements. All our Elementary teachers are New York State certified. Our faculty fully prepares students for New York State examinations while helping each student reach his or her full potential in a manner and at a speed that suits each individual child.
We offer our students a nurturing Christian environment that balances strong academics with an emphasis on character building, morality, and values.
Maria Regina's Elementary program includes:
Our Kindergarten Program provides a nurturing, learner-centered environment for children entering their transition to Elementary School here at Maria Regina. Our Kindergarten program focuses on the whole child with support in academics, health and safety, problem-solving, social skills, emotional intelligence, and faith in God.
We balance these aspects daily. Students learn the basics of ELA in Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening and the basics in Math in Numeration, Geometry, Measurement, and Operations. Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Art, Music, and Technology are integrated weekly. Religion is taught through daily prayers and teacher-created lessons. Students learn personal skills and cooperation while being educated in our small classes which allows for more one-on-one instruction.
At Maria Regina, our Kindergarten students experience a sense of family and belonging from their early learning years that will see them through until they graduate. Our faculty, staff, administration, and students all know and respect each other in a devoted and caring environment. It is no wonder that Maria Regina has been nominated "Best Catholic School" and "Best Private School" for consecutive years running in Bethpage's Best of Long Island competition.
Additional Highlights of our Kindergarten program include:
"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood."
