In cooperation and under the directives of our diocese, all parishes must participate in Virtus Protecting God's Children Program. This workshop is required of all employees, parish volunteers and school parents/guardians (grandparents and relatives who assist us) who have contact with our children. Without completition of Virtus training & background check, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO VOLUNTEER at school or events including but not limited to serving as class parent, kitchen/lunch helper, school events/functions, surprise reader, and field trip chaperone.
You must indicate Rockville Centre, NY Safe Environment (Diocese) from the drop down menu and on the next page for session type select Protecting God's Children for Adults to begin class registration. The website will guide you through the registration process.
COmmitment OF SERVICE OBLIGATION
A Maria Regina Catholic education provides our children with a solid foundation of Christian values, academic excellence, naturing environment, and an array of co-curricular opportunities. There is a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make this happen, and a vast majority begins with our family volunteers.
We need YOUR help with many of our programs such as: Family Events, Class Parents, Lunch/Recess, After-School Activities, Appreciation Days, School Sports Teams, etc. We also have special fundraising events such as the Royal Run, Carnival, Royal Auction, and Golf Outing throughout the year, which are also in need of volunteers.
In order to keep tuition costs and the parish subsidy as low as possible, the MRPA is tasked with meeting an annual fundraising goal of $150,000. In order to meet this goal the MRPA depends on the help of our parents and extended Maria Regina community. All families are asked to volunteer a certain number of hours in support of our events and fundraisers. The commitment is twenty-five (25) hours for families in K-8 and ten (10) hours for families in Early Childhood. Families that are unable to commit to time will have a fee of $20 per hour that remains incomplete as of April 1st applied towards their May tuition invoice.
We understand that our student body's parents work hard to provide a Catholic Education and may not be able to fulfill the time commitment. That is why we provide non-time commitment opportunities including raffle basket donations, fundraising sale incentives, and an early buyout option for commitment hours. We are offering families an option to either pay a discounted $150 (N/PK) and $400 (K-8) upfront by November 1st or agree to serve as volunteers for events during the year and at the end of the year pay the original $200/$500 minus the value of the volunteer hours fulfilled. Payment can be made via credit card on our website or Checks (payable to MRPA) - please send all checks to the main office in a sealed envelope with your family name & oldest child's grade.
